Faceless

This is another of those "small paintings" I mentioned, I don't know what I was thinking about when I painted these, but I chose not to give her a face. I think it's better to imagine what it looks like for yourself. Acrylic.

I did a few small paintings one day, this is one of them. The left is male, and the right, female. Acrylic. It makes me think of souls.

Vea

This was my pet lobster, Vea. Very photogenic.

Pecan Flower

This is very old.. Broken pieces of several pecan shells arranged on the counter.

New Altered Book Cover

I've decided to continue with the ways of Brandt and attempt to keep up with an altered book, probably using it like a journal.

I painted the whole cover in a reddish orange and then rubbed some of it away to show the original yellow cover in places. I think it looks cool.

The white pieces are torn page fragments glued to the cover and slightly outlined in places.

This book was about flowers so the floral designs on the front are not my own, but I went over two of the flowers in black acrylic to make them stand out.

Happy Cyndi

An image transfer of a photo I took of Cyndi, painted in [my own version of] the style of Francoise Nielly. The colors in the background are joyful colors and the only thing I don't really care too much for are the four small flowers. They could have been MUCH better, but all in all I think it turned out very well.

Statue In The Courtyard.

I took a photo of the statue in the senior courtyard, drew two pictures of it, cut them up, and wove them together. A PAIN! I like how it turned out, though. Oil pastel on Bristol Board. I think it turned out pretty well. :)

Shoes!

A pain, but worth it in the end.

Charcoal and acrylic on (metallic) spray painted black paper. Looks better in person (flash pulls the background through the shoes) Another one of my favorites for sure.

"Genius"

One of my favorites this year..

Charcoal on newspaper, stained with watered-down acrylic. The object was a candlestick holder, and the 'smoke' coming out of the top has no real meaning behind it other than Mr. Brandt had just finished explaining the history of the word 'genius' so I say the 'smoke' is really a genie. :)

Simple Weaving

Not my favorite piece.........

This should have been way more complex with a lot more strips of paper but this is how it ended up. I chose the colors to express a rainforest-y feel. There are a couple pieces of a toucan in the picture. The best thing about this piece was the color and pattern on the strips of paper.

"Zombie Cyndi"

This piece was inspired by a conversation I had with Cynthia about a very strange scary movie we saw a few years ago so, since it was Halloween, it seemed appropriate.
Done on black paper, i sketched the figure using a white charcoal pencil. I used soft chalk pastels for the color- black and white charcoal for the values. I blended the chalk mostly using a rubber eraser- the jacket was blended with my finger, though. For the areas that I used charcoal, I used a blending stump.
Originally this piece was much better, but the matte fixative reacted in such a way that caused me to have to go over the majority of the piece again, taking away some of it's awesomeness. The hand on the left side of the portrait remains to be the best part of it, though. :D

Stick Drawing

This is the 2nd project of Art 4 Hrs. India ink and watercolor. Not really my favorite. Drawing with a sharpened stick held 6 inches from the point isn't easy but I think it turned out okay.

Constraint

This is the 1st project of Art 4 Hrs and so far my favorite! :) This is the erasure lesson, my take on that was just having the leg move a little. I used black and white charcoal, black and white acryllic paint, and blue conti-crayon on paper. The black figure is showed as being suspended by wires like a puppet, and the white figure is sortof omniscently and mournfully overseeing this, unbeknownst to the smaller figure. :)

Shadows

ART 3!!
This is one of my favorites!!
I cut out papers of various colors and some different textures, then glued them down and spray painted a thin layer over top of it.
I drew this small still life I set up, in black and white charcoal, and small amounts of watered-down white acryllic paint.
I mostly just dipped the brush in water to blend the charcoal.

Kandinsky-themed project in Art...1? This is watercolor on paper, outlined in black sharpie. Probably one of my favorites! :)

This is another project from Art 2....it was a lino block print making project. I drew a vase with the word "peace" on it. It has cracks on the sides with water (i guess) spilling out, and small people climbing up the sides of the vase, at the bottom it says "world"

This is a chicken head pourer i made out of clay in Art 2. This is my favorite 3-D piece i've made so far. I molded each part of it by hand, and painted it with acryllic paints. The eyes, top beak, handle, and comb were attached by scratching and applying slip to the affected areas.

Fun With Foreshortening

This is my fore-shortening project. Acrylic on Canvas. The model is also my English teacher :)
I chose for him to do this pose because I thought it would look cool, and I really didn't know what else to do. The words in the background were already on the canvas from a sign previously made by some AP students. I thought it looked neat and it sort of inspired the disheveled look of my background. I chose the colors in the background because green and blue are my favorite colors. Overall I liked this project, the only thing I'm not completely satisfied with is his face. The black areas look kind of washed out because of the reflection of the light outside where I took the photo.

Not So Precise Bricks

This project was supposed to be precisionism, but it really isn't... I took a photo of a corner of bricks on a planter in the space between two buildings here at school. I drew it in pencil then I painted it with acryllic paint. It's been said that it might be too dark and also that it is a boring subject matter :) but as suggested by Mr. Brandt, I added some blades of grass, and flowers to add interest.

It's ME!!!

This was definitely my favorite!!! This was an image transfer onto Bristol Board (Photo by Cynthia Graham) I painted a background onto my paper, then transferred the image, and painted over top of it. The washed-out flowers and designs were created by watering down the acryllic a little, and then letting it sit for a few minutes and dabbing it with a paper towel.
