Constraint

This is the 1st project of Art 4 Hrs and so far my favorite! :) This is the erasure lesson, my take on that was just having the leg move a little. I used black and white charcoal, black and white acryllic paint, and blue conti-crayon on paper. The black figure is showed as being suspended by wires like a puppet, and the white figure is sortof omniscently and mournfully overseeing this, unbeknownst to the smaller figure. :)

  1. Erin! I really do like this piece. I read your comments about it and I feel like the white figure appears as more of a conscience to the black figure than just its own entity. Almost as if the white figure is representing the black figure's out of body experience while the black figure is being controlled/is being tortured by its puppeteer.

  2. Erin you did a lovely job with this piece, its so unique and I can see emotion in this which is so hard to do. I feel hoplessness from the black figure and almost a sympathatic one from the white. I also like Renee's interpretation :) very good job on making us interpret your art haha

  3. This piece is awesome. It makes the think of a sad puppet for some reason. Like a monolouge of a puppet in a play of Marionettes. The blue is what makes me think that it is more of a sad picture, but the values and the colors work well.

  5. I was a little nervous when you covered the whole paper in blue but I must say this turned out very nice :)

  6. I also adore this. Somehow, though, I don't get the sense of "sadness" so much as it feels/looks very surreal to me. This is the kind of thing I find thought-provoking enough to want to keep looking at it for a long time- you did a terrific job making it interesting.
